You can assign a dedicated drill bit to carve the drill holes in your design. Before, Easel always used your roughing or detail bit for drill holes, which often meant making a separate workpiece just for the drills.
With a drill bit, you can:
- Choose a separate bit just for drill holes.
- Skip duplicating workpieces or manually hiding drills.
- Keep everything in one carve with up to four toolpaths: Roughing, Detail, Drill and Outline.
Adding a drill bit
Click the + next to your selected bit and choose Drill Bit.
- A Drill Bit tab (1) appears in the settings bar. Click it, then choose your bit from the drop-down (2).
Review the Cut Settings (3). A drill pass only plunges, so you only need to set the Plunge rate and Depth per pass.
- Click Simulate to preview your carve. The drill pass appears as a separate purple toolpath.
- When you carve or download G-code, choose Drill Pass when selecting which toolpath to run.
To remove the drill bit, click the × on the Drill Bit tab.
| Easel Pro: Pro members can create custom drill bits in their toolbox by choosing the Drill option when setting up a bit. Your drill bits then appear in their own Drill section when you select a bit for your drill pass. |
