You can give any shape or group a name. Names appear on top of their shapes in the design editor, which makes it easy to identify parts in an assembly or to label and annotate parts of your design.
Naming a shape
- Select a shape or group (1).
- At the bottom of the Shape panel, type a name in the Name box (2).
How names appear
- On larger shapes, the name appears as a label at the top-left corner of the shape (3).
- On smaller shapes, a tag icon appears instead. Hover over the icon to see the name.
Changing or removing a name
Select the shape, then edit the text in the Name box. To remove the name, delete the text.
| Helpful Tip: Names are a good way to label the parts of a multi-part project, such as the sides of a box, so you know which piece is which after you carve. |
