The cut path is the method used to carve out a shape. In Easel, this can be changed on any closed shape. The Cut Path dropdown can be accessed by first selecting the object, then clicking on the Cut tab.
There are four options to choose from. Clear out a pocket, cut on shape path, cut outside shape path, and cut inside shape path.
Clear out a pocket
This option will carve out the entire inside area of the selected object.
The Simulate button shows how the pocket will be carved. By default, the bit will start at the center of the pocket and work outwards. The Raster feature can be used to change the carving direction.
Cut on shape path
This option will place the center of the bit on the line. This is most often used when engraving fonts or small details.
Cut outside shape path
This will place the outside edge of the bit on the outside of the line. Cutting outside the shape path is most often used when cutting out a shape. This ensures that the object cut out matches the dimensions set in Easel.
Cut inside shape path
This option will place the outside edge of the bit on the inside of the line. Using this option is a quick way to make an object smaller, which could be helpful if your carving space is limited.
