Simplify reduces the number of points in a shape. Shapes with fewer points are easier to edit and transform, and Easel generates their toolpaths faster. It works best on natural, organic or smooth shapes, such as traced images and freehand drawings.
Simplifying a shape
- Right-click the shape and choose Simplify (1).
- In the Simplify window, drag the Intensity slider (2) to the right to simplify more, or to the left to simplify less.
- Check the point count (3). It shows how many points the shape has now and how many it will have after simplifying, for example "128 points → 94 points."
- Check the purple preview on the canvas (4) to make sure the shape still looks right.
- Click Apply (5). The simplified shape replaces the original.
| Helpful Tip: For complex designs, right-click and choose Separate first to split the design into smaller shapes. Then simplify each shape on its own for better results. |
| Important: Simplify can distort technical designs with sharp corners or precise edges. Try a light setting first, and check the preview before you apply it. If you don’t like the result, press Undo. |
