The City Skyline App lets you carve the skyline of your favorite city in a few clicks. Easel draws each city from its landmark towers, as seen from a real vantage point, and scales the skyline to fit your material.
Opening the City Skyline App
In the toolbar, click Apps > City Skyline. You can also find it in the App Library under Featured.
Setting up your skyline
1. Choose a city and view
Pick a city, then choose one of its views. Most cities have two to four views, such as Chicago – From the lake or Seattle – From Kerry Park.
2. Add labels (optional)
- Building names & heights: Adds each landmark's name and height, in feet or meters.
- City name: Adds the city's name beneath the skyline.
3. Choose a style
- Silhouette: A filled skyline shape, carved 1/8" deep.
- Second layer behind: Adds lighter background buildings, carved 1/16" deep. On some views this includes landscape features, like Mount Rainier behind Seattle.
- Traced outlines: Landmark outlines traced from photographs. Only available on some views.
- Perspective: Sizes each tower by its distance from the viewpoint.
- Line art: A single-stroke roofline for engraving.
4. Import the skyline
Click Import to add the skyline to your project.
| Helpful Tip: Use a V-bit to carve skylines. It handles thin spires and small details best. |
Editing your skyline
