Easel estimates how long your carve will take and updates the estimate as you change your project. Small changes to your settings can make a big difference to how long a carve takes.
Reading the time estimate
1. Estimated carve time
The total time your carve should take. It updates as you change your design, material or bits.
2. Time for each bit
If your project uses more than one bit, Easel shows how long each bit will take.
3. Simulate
Click Simulate to see the toolpaths and a more exact time. See Toolpath Simulation in Easel.
Shortening your carve time
- Use a larger bit. Switching from a 1/16" bit to a 1/8" bit can noticeably shorten your carve.
- Use a detail bit only where you need it. Carve most of the design with a larger bit and add a smaller detail bit for the fine areas. See Multi-Stage Carves.
- Check your cut depth. A shallower cut needs fewer passes. See Cut Depth and Depth Per Pass.
- Check your material thickness. Make sure it matches the material you're actually carving.
| Helpful Tip: In a simulation, click a bit in the key to see just that bit's toolpaths and how long it will take. |
