Easel and Easel Pro can connect to machines as long as you are using a Grbl-based motion controller. Easel and Easel Pro are also able to generate G-Code that is compatible with some non-GRBL machines. If you're using a GRBL motion controller, follow this guide: Machine Profile Setup
If your machine does not use a GRBL controller or you do not want to install the Easel driver and allow Easel to control your machine, you can still set up a machine profile to generate G-Code from Easel and Easel Pro.
To get started, open up an Easel Project and go to Machine > Set up new machine
This will bring you to a page where you can begin the machine profile setup by selecting the blue button that says "Start Machine Setup".
Once that button is pressed, you’ll be taken to a page where you can select your machine manufacturer.
To set up a Non-GRBL machine profile, scroll to the bottom of the page and select “I have a different CNC manufacturer that is not listed.”
This will bring you to a page where you can manually enter your machine details.
You’ll be able to input various settings, and there are a few important choices to pay attention to:
Motion Controller: Set this to “Other”.
Work Area: Make sure the dimensions match your machine’s actual work area.
-
Spindle Control:
Choose “Manual” if your spindle is powered on using a separate external switch.
Choose “Hardware” if the spindle is controlled automatically as part of the machine itself.
Once all the settings are entered, click the blue “Confirm Settings” button to save your configuration.
This will bring you to a page that indicates the machine profile set up is over and you can return to Easel.
You should now see a green "Export" button instead of "Carve" button. This button will export G-Code when you press it:
