Selecting and editing material
When starting a project, Easel’s default material is birch plywood. You can select a different material from the Material Library by clicking "Material" in the top right corner of Easel.
Once your material is selected, use the dimensions in the top right corner of the preview pane to edit your material dimensions. Notice how the preview of your design changes when you adjust the length, width, and height of your material.
The depth per pass and feed rate relate to how deep and quickly Easel will carve the job. We’ve chosen the optimal settings for carving with your selected machine, but you may wish to change these based on your own preferences.
If you change a material’s depth after placing objects on the work area, those objects’ depth will adjust proportionally to the new material depth.
Bit size
Another key component of carving your design is the size of bit you use. If you’re removing a lot of material without much detail, you’ll want to use a larger bit. If you need to carve out a fine level of detail, choose a smaller bit.
You can select from the bits we have in our Easel library, or you can enter the diameter of the bit you plan on using. Hit "Enter" on your keyboard when you've entered your correct bit diameter.
If have an outlined shape, the width of the outline will adjust based on the size of bit you choose.
